CANAPE offers two guided excursions in Germany
22.02.18 - Examples of operational Sphagnum breeding at the companies Gramoflor GmbH & Co KG and Niedersächsische Rasenkultur Nira GmbH & Co. KG
This guided excursion presents different approaches for optimized breeding of Sphagnum at a large scale for purposes of renaturation of bogs or for installation of paludiculture.
Besides partners in the CANAPE Project, the excursion is of interest to farmers, peat cutting industries, students of landscape ecology or soil sciences and people generally interested in future of peatland use or products of paludiculture.
28.02.18 - Paludiculture pilot Hankhausener Moor (Researchproject "MoosWeit")
This excursion is guided by the managing Greifswald Moor Centrum. It presents large scale Sphagnum farming on 14 hectares of bogland. The experience of 7 years of Sphagnum cultivation and its high productivity will be shared. The site is investigated intensively by Universities of Greifswald, Rostock and Oldenburg. Research objectives are the establishment of Sphagnum on former bogs, effects of paludiculture on biodiversity, questions of irrigation, risk assessment and economic feasibility and estimation of greenhouse gas reductions.
Besides partners in the CANAPE Project, the excursion is of interest to politicians and members of agricultural authorities, farmers and peat cutting industries, students of agriculture, landscape ecology or soil sciences and people generally interested in future of peatland use of paludiculture products.
This excursion is kindly supported by IKI-Projekt „Deutscher Moorschutzdialog“ at Greifswald Moor Centrum.
Both excursions are open to everyone. They will start at Wagenfeld at 10 a.m. with bustransfer. There is no charge for attending the events.
