Roskilde

Several areas in Denmark experienced severe flooding in December 2013 from the storm Xavier in particular the Roskilde area. The recovery process was not entirely successful and it was highlighted how recovery after severe flooding was not planned and accounted for.

The Danish Coastal Authority will focus on the processes and the experiences from the recovery period after the damages and will be working with the community to enhance resilience and preparedness to future events. This includes an analysis of the local stakeholder recovery capacity and to what extent the area has been rebuilt after the severe flood. The study is expected to contribute with tools and step-by-step guidance that will aid the Danish municipalities in integrating risk reduction and response in the recovery process.
