Medway Catchment
Areas of Kent experienced significant flooding during the winter of 2013/14, highlighting the vulnerability of many towns and villages. The South East Rivers Trust will be delivering natural flood management measures targeted to contribute to a reduction in flood risk, and working with the National Flood Forum to enhance the resilience of communities to future floods.A co-design approach will be taken, whereby local stakeholders, landowners and communities will be involved in a process to model where to put natural flood management measures and choose the kinds of measures that might be employed. It is hoped that this participatory approach will help enhance understanding of flood risks and what can be done about them among local stakeholders. Natural flood management measures, e.g. runoff attenuation features, will be delivered on the ground.
