ACHES Public Open Day - Saturday 1st April 2023

03 April 2023 - Published by Louise Napier

On Saturday 1st April 2023, the Aberdeen City Hydrogen Energy Storage (ACHES) held a public open day where members of the public could receive a guided tour of the facility. Assisting in providing the tours was Cameron Smith (HyTrEc2 Comms lead). The ACHES facility was Aberdeen's second hydrogen station and was open to the public from February 2017. The station delivers hydrogen production through water electrolysis, compression, storage and cooling to enable fast filling of cars and vans. Throughout the tour, the HyTrEc2 Nexo car was used for the demonstration of how to refuel a hydrogen car.

There were several tours held throughout the day of the well attended event with some of attendees travelling from as far as  Shetland and Dundee. It was great to see the public engagement and positivity around H2 Aberdeen's hydrogen technologies and how it is stimulating the hydrogen economy in the area.
