Workshop on maize cultivation and water protection in the Netherlands and Germany

On the 9th of November a workshop was hosted at ‘Biohof Bakenhus’, an ecological farm that proves to be a good example of how farming and water protection can go hand in hand.
The day was divided in two parts. The first part addressed approaches and reports from the Netherlands. Most important subjects on the agenda were:
- Phosporus and Nitrogen in surface water
- Encouraging sustainable farming
In the second part of the day the approaches and reports from Lower Saxony were discussed. The subjects on the agenda were:
- Experiences from the TOPSOIL case study
- Handling of farm fertilizer management in Lower Saxony. Test results of water conservation trials of the chamber of agriculture in Lower Saxony
- Success oriented voluntary agreements concerning maize cultivation and water protection
