On 28 and 29 november 2017 a workshop on groundwater and flooding was organised by the TOPSOIL consortium at the Sinatur Hotel in Vejle (Denmark).
During the workshop three large topics were discussed:
- The topic 'Data collection and studies' covered the area of which data are important for understanding the groundwater challenges in the upper aquifer.
- During the worksession on 'Models' GEUS (Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland) shared experience on adaptive modelling and participatory early warning and monitoring systems.
- 'How to handle rising groundwater' contained presentations about the challenges rising groundwater presents in an urban context and about a strategy to deal with these high levels of groundwater. To conclude the agricultural point of view on the problem with rising groundwater was presented.
