Workshop and partner meeting in Bremen

On the 6th and 7th of March 2018 the Topsoil consortium had the chance to participate in a workshop on Groundwater Salinization, hosted by the Geological Survey of Bremen.
On the 8th and 9th of March, there was a topsoil partner meeting.
the 6th of March the following topics were discussed:
- Coping with groundwater challenges in the Zwin are – Dieter Vandevelde (TOPSOIL partnership)
- Innovations in software for early detection of saltwater intrusion - Dietmar Brose
- Marine and terrestrial influence on submarine groundwater discharge in coastal waters connected to a peatland - Miriam Ibenthal
- HEM-based mapping of the salt-/fresh water interface (SFI) using Direct-Push groundwater sampling - Nico Deus (TOPSOIL partnership)

The workshop concluded with a discussion on possible methods and experiences of measures to prevent saltwater intrusion.
On the 8th of March, there was TOPSOIL meeting which included a visit to Kasakade Diekmannshausen. An update on the pilots was presented;
On the 2nd day of the meeting (9thof March 2018), a workshop on managing shortage of groundwater took place.
