Water Co-Governance Conference
Involvement as the key to understanding
Thanks to OOWV, 4 projects focussing on water quality and water governance were brought together to exchange ideas and experiences about stakeholder involvement. During the two day conference in Oldenburg, representatives from WaterCoG, goCAM, TOPSOIL and STEER discussed complex topics such as ecosystem services, climate change adaptation of regional water balance and citizen involvement. One thing is sure: stakeholder involvement from the beginning is a key to success . Or as it was expressed so beautifully during one of the interactive sessions: “Tell someone, and they will forget, show someone and they will remember, involve someone and they will understand”.
Giving youngsters a voice
Parallel to the conference, the Climate Café was organized. Climate Café is a dynamic community of several international organisations working in a climate café setting. During Climate Café Oldenburg, students used multiple tools (such as questionnaires and the city scan) to assess the climate change awareness of the inhabitants of the city. After only two days of cooperation, the students form 5(!) different nationalities presented their creative solutions for raising awareness and visualizing the effects of climate change.
