TOPSOIL Policy Day
Groundwater & Soil management in a future climate
What if 2018 would become the new normal?
According to meteorological services across Europe, the record-breaking summer of 2018 was one of the hottest ever, raising concerns about the impacts of global warming and climate change. Droughts, floods, salinity, hazard substances, challenging soil conditions – what do we need in Europe to improve the resilience of soil and groundwater?
Since 2016, the Interreg North Sea Region project TOPSOIL is bringing together expertise from Belgium, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. As a result, 16 pilot projects are being implemented to increase the climate resilience of important groundwater resources during periods of extreme weather events.
On 21 March 2019, TOPSOIL will introduce some exciting first results to its European stakeholders. Come discover our tested measures, updated models, new monitoring tools and activities on stakeholder involvement and policy making - and help to shape the future policy focus at European level.
