Tackling climate change effects on soil and groundwater
Using ground-breaking technology, TOPSOIL uncovers and predicts how the soil and groundwater beneath our feet responds to rising temperatures, sea level rise and changes in precipitation patterns. Underground reactions caused by these climate change effects are crucial in determining which specific challenges local areas are facing. TOPSOIL facilitates innovative climate resilience solutions through development of new technologies and by integrating detailed local knowledge about the subsurface hydrology and geology. Its methodologies are already being applied by regional authorities in the countries of the North Sea Region and in other countries as well. Preliminary results are being integrated into farming practices and land management.
During the TOPSOIL sessions we will introduce interested stakeholders and others to our exciting results. Come discover our new technology, subsurface models, tested measures, monitoring tools and activities on stakeholder involvement and policy making. We will present and discuss all our results:
On 23 October 2019, TOPSOIL will introduce interested stakeholders and others to it’s exciting results. Come discover our new technology, subsurface models, tested measures, monitoring tools and activities on stakeholder involvement and policy making. We will present and discuss all our results:
- Get informed about the TOPSOIL project
- Learn more about our technological developments
- See how we have tackled specific groundwater related climate change challenges in our pilots
- Meet other experts working on climate change adaptation in the North Sea region
- Discover how other countries deal with climate change challenges
