Logistics hub in Edinburgh
In collaboration with ZEDIFY Logistics, SEStran and Edinburgh Napier University are carrying out meaningful action research on sustainable logistics. The pilot logistic hub in the Haymarket area of central Edinburgh offers the opportunity to explore different commercial approaches to logistics in a crowded urban environment like Edinburgh. The Scottish partners re-mode deliveries typically made by diesel van or truck and consolidate, making the whole process far more efficient. The pilot will provide valuable insights into future approaches to sustainable city logistics by investigating:
- The establishment of commercial operations through bottom-up rather than top-down approaches.
-
The importance of key partnerships, both public-private and private-private.
-
The need to increase public awareness.
-
The importance of validating the concept of the last sustainable mile in order to increase commercial confidence.
