Can the Internet of Things revolutionize logistics?

Two North Sea Region Interreg projects - Surflogh and Like! - find each other during the Internet of Things (IoT) Hackathon in Drenthe on 9th and 10th March.

“Revolutionize freight transportation with Iot! Transportation companies drive around with half empty trucks and often enter the city centres to deliver just one package. This is inefficient and leads to traffic congestion and unnecessary exhaust emissions. Information flows are too big and dynamic to centralize the planning of all freight transportation flows. But what if freight itself could talk, and packages and pallets could self-organize their distribution?”

Our Surflogh partner from the Province of Drenthe has submitted this challenge for the upcoming international Internet of Things (IoT) Hackathon being organized by our Interreg colleagues in the LIKE! project. The Iot Hackathon takes place on 9th & 10th March in the City of Emmen, Drenthe (NL).

Mobility is one of the four challenge tracks of this innovation competition where teams of bright, creative people try to come up with new solutions to challenges presented. Within the context of ‘freight transportation’ Surflogh Drenthe is very keen to hear what their team comes up with at the end of this 30-hour inventor’s marathon. We’ll keep you posted!
