Stronghouse Hydrogen Tour

07 April 2023 - Published by Deirdre Buist
On 29th and 30th March, the Stronghouse project focus was on hydrogen applications in the built environment.

We started on Wednesday in the Hydrogen Tiny House in Hoogeveen where various partners and associates from the Waterstofwijk Hoogeveen project presented their different roles. The journey then took us to Groningen where we visited the EnTranCe Centre of Expertise. Lecturers from the Hanze University of Applied Sciences shared insights into  a series of projects and research, followed by a guided tour of the hydrogen test centre (WING) and BuildinG! where sustainable innovations are being developed, applied and shared. The day ended with a dinner in Groningen and, between courses, the group was treated to presentations from the Gasunie and HEAVENN.

Our first stop on Thursday 30th was at Groningen  Airport Eelde. Jonas van Dorp presented the hydrogen ambitions of the regional airport and gave a tour behind the scenes. Then, in Bremerhaven the group visited Microgrid-Testlabor, Fraunhofer IWES and ttz Bremerhaven that are part of the project Grüner Gas für Bremerhaven. During a closing dinner and the bus trip back to Groningen there was ample opportunity  to process the technical information, discuss and exchange further.
