In June the Highlands and Islands launched the ground-breaking GO-HI app that makes it easier to plan, book and pay for travel.

The app provides instant access to information on buses, trains, car clubs, car hires, bicycle hire, air travel and ferries. Which allows users to plan their journeys for all modes of transport in one place. In addition, it also provides information on location for food and drinks, cash machines and electric vehicle charging points.

The aim with the app is to provide people with easy access to travel information and encourage a shift to public transport and active travel alternatives.

The app GO-HI is funded by the Scottish Government´s Maas Investment Fund with marketing support and the introduction of public eBikes funded through Stronger Combined GO-HI has been developed by Hitrans, with technology firm Fleetondemand using the Mobilleo Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) platform.

The app has potential to make significant contribution to improve accessibility for residents and visitors. Along with to reduce carbon emissions by encouraging a modal shift from sole-occupancy cars to shared cars and public transport alternatives. Additionally, it will help to create healthier lifestyle by improving the sustainable travel choices people can make in the region including active travel opportunities.
