The annual test field day of PCA in Belgium took place on Thursday 18 August. More than 400 attendees, active in the potato chain came to see the trials. And gain knowledge. PCA is carrying out research, provide training and gives information.
PCA is also the bridge between more fundamental academic knowledge and practice. In this way, companies are prepared for future developement and regulations. Different aspects were extensively discussed during the test field visit:

  • Fertilization
  • Drought and climate proof cultivation. How can we make our soil more resilient to the challenges of our climate? And what role can compost play in this? In addition, a good choice of varieties is and remains important, both for the profitability and the sustainability of the cultivation.
  • Crop protection also remains an important aspect.
  • Storage

During field day also the SOILCOM trial was visited: different types of compost are compared: green compost/farm compost/no compost. Also attention was payed to on farm composting.

In February 2023 you can find the results of the potato trial on this website!
