Field trials with compost in open ground tree cultivation

Written by PCS. In the autumn of 2019 PCS Destelbergen started a field trial with two different composts in tree cultivation of Carpinus (hornbeam).

Two different composts were practised, namely a regular GFT compost, and a compost with stable bedding with a very high organic carbon content. A few crop characteristics (trunk circumference, height) will be monitored during the 2-year cultivation. Soil analyzes will be carried out regularly to measure both the nutritional status of the soil and the biological activity.
