SOILCOM

Demo with different potting soil compositions

Delphy has started a demo with different potting soil compositions in pots.

Compost and coarse fraction cattle manure have been added to the potting soil. This demo is part of the European Interreg project Soilcom.

Last week the plants were potted in four different potting soil compositions. The compost is mixed through the potting soil in two different dosages. Additionally coarse fraction cattle manure is used to mix through the potting soil. And finally a standard potting soil has been used as a reference. The following crops were used for this demo: Hydrangea paniculata and Juniperus chinensis 'Stricta'. These crops show strong root growth and salt tolerance.

The growth and development of the plants will be measured and the soil and soil life will also be analyzed. In the demo trial, some extremes were applied, concerning dosage. High dosages of compost result in significant effects on the physical, chemical and biological composition of the potting soil. Keep an eye on the website for the results!
