Join us for the Finale Conference of SalFar

You are warmly welcome to join the Finale Conference of SalFar - Saline Farming: Climate adaptive Agriculture for Future Food Security on 5 - 6 April 2022 in Groningen.

After 5 years of successful co-operation across the North Sea Region, the SalFar project will come to an end. With the focus on climate adaptive farming in coastal areas and close cooperation between scientists and practitioners we achieved amazing results. The originally planned 10 test fields on saline farming grew out to more than 20 open field labs in all the North Sea countries! Farmers, food companies, and researchers became more and more excited on the possibility to grow crops under saline conditions, save freshwater resources and at the same time creating new markets for healthy food from the region. The salt tolerance of various crops, like potatoes, carrots, onions, cabbages was tested on these fields, with results surprising farmers and scientists alike.

We would like to share these results with you, discuss future farming and food security as well as water management and future policies in agriculture. You are invited to visit our test fields in the Northern Netherlands, the Double Dyke project at the Ems-Dollard coast and SPNA Agroresearch close to Lauwersmeer.
