Wadden Sea at ITB 2019: Linking sustainable growth and nature conservation

05 March 2019 - Published by Harald Marencic

„In Prowad Link we aim to unlock the potential of natural areas as a driver for jobs and sustainable development“, says Harald Marencic, Deputy Executive Secretary of the Common Wadden Sea Secretariat (CWSS) and project manager. Working with small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) 14 project partners in Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and the United Kingdom utilise nature as a brand; thereby creating benefits for both, SMEs and the environment.

The ITB stand is one of the projects’ activities and invites visitors to network and get to know Wadden Sea World Heritage related commercial services and products. On the “ITB Sustainable Development Day”, 7 March, the UNESCO/ Wadden Sea World Heritage information stand on the opposite site will host various talks on Prowad Link and SME engagement in nature conservation.

The 2018-21 project is implemented in the pilot regions of the Wadden Sea (DK, D, NL), Geiranger Fjord (NO), Wash & North Norfolk Coast (UK). The solutions for nature sites will deliver approaches to utilise on a national, European and potentially global scale. Prowad Link is co-funded by and carried out in the framework of the Interreg North Sea Region Programme under the Programme Priority 1 “Thinking Growth”. The programme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union.
