The Netherlands Maritime Technology trade association together with the Center for Maritime Technologies attended the Smart Blue Regions project Workshop "Offshore Wind Energy Supply Chain - the future for technologies and cooperation" which took place in Gdansk , Poland on April 26th 2018.

The objective of the workshop was to explore and define possibilities of transnational cooperation among entrepreneurs representing offshore industry in the Baltic Sea Region making use of RIS3 processes and EU funding. Nearly 90 participants attended the workshop representing all target groups: offshore industry entrepreneurs from shipyards, ship design offices, steel and engine producers, etc., as well as regional administrations of Smart Blue Regions. The participants took the chance to seek new business opportunities and project cooperation. During the workshop, the participants were separated in four groups to attend two of the four sessions that ran in parallel. The sessions on evaluating potential business ideas and exploring possible future cooperation covered: construction, vessels, wind farm efficiency, and autonomous operations. The event was highly rated by the participants due to the opportunity to establish new contacts and a wide range of proposed topics for discussion.
During the joint follow-up session, Joanna Przedrzymirska introduced the Periscope project to the audience and introduced the two Periscope representatives as potential contact persons. In total, ten new business ideas were identified and distributed amongst the attendants. These ideas were shared with the Periscope project, where they will be validated by industry around the North Sea Region and ranked.
