Persicope Network feeds into North Sea Region 2030 Strategy
Following the Periscope Forum at the end of 2019, gathering strategists, policymakers and politicians to discuss the main EU programming issues with a special focus on the North Sea, the Periscope Network provided input to the North Sea Commission to their drafting of the North Sea Region 2030 Strategy. Recommendations for flagship actions emanating from the Forum were provided together with the results of the Periscope Network survey of the North Sea region’s blue economy to better understand businesses' innovation strategies and their perception of the climate for business innovation, completed by over 100 organisations.
In the newly-published Strategy, there are clear overlaps between our recommendations and other inputs and the published version in terms of emphasis on smart specialisation strategies in the regions, the importance of skills in the blue economy and the increased prominence of the role of citizens.
We look forward to the next concrete steps in order to strengthen the North Sea region’s position as a frontrunner in the blue economy with emphasis on its ability to innovate.
