Hackathon on robotics related to blue growth in the North Sea Region
INTERREG North Sea project PERISCOPE and Scottish Enterprise co-hosted a hackathon on robotics in order to generate potential project ideas. Over 40 companies from around the North Sea gathered in Edinburgh on 11th October to hear from players along the blue growth value chain, from the innovation ecosystem to cluster organisations to catapults. Pitching sessions were also available for start-ups. The sessions were highly interactive, with live voting adding interest.
The main session covered idea relays and sprints – 2030 thinking and 2019 challenges. Thanks to facilitators, all ideas moved around the tables and were contributed to by all groups. Visions were fleshed out with ideas for practical development. After the series of ideas had been identified, individual ideas were then mapped to potential funding streams. Identified funding streams were both national and European, involving trans-national partnerships. There were complementary planned networking events which has already enabled some ideas to be taken to the next stage.
A thoroughly successful day!
