The Department of Agroecology of Aarhus University (AU-AGRO) coordinates the field demonstrations of different systems for nitrogen and phosphorus removal from agricultural runoff.

Coordination of field demonstrations

At seven sites in Belgium, Denmark and Germany the approaches include the treatment of surface water, greenhouse effluents or artificial drainage water in either compact filter systems or constructed wetlands.

AU-AGRO will test phosphorus removal from drainage water in a full-scale compartmented filter-well system consisting of a lamella filter for sediment removal and an innovative porous reactive filter, DiaPure, supplied by PLEN-UCPH.

In a second system, a surface flow constructed wetland fed with drainage water, we will monitor nitrogen and phosphours removal.
