North Sea Wrecks Final Symposium, Bremerhaven, April 19-20, 2023

On April 19-20, 2023 the North Sea Wrecks Final Symposium took Place. The event was held at the Alfred Wegener Institute in Bremerhaven, organized by the German Maritime Museum. The symposium was the culmination of over 4.5 years of transnational and transdisciplinary research in this project. The symposium was attended by more than 130 participants (in-persona and online) representing political, environmental, technical, and scientific institutions.

The scientific research results developed, as well as the travelling exhibition were presented to the participants.

Participants from Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, UK, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Scotland, and the US made it very clear, that the issue is of widespread interest and mirrors the aim of the North Sea Wrecks Project, to show the importance of national and international cooperation in doing research and finding joint solutions.

The symposium had good media coverage with the presence of more than 20 journalists from news agencies, print and online media, radio, and TV, who were able to interview NSW representatives. As a result, the PR of the lead beneficiary counted 4 radio features, 3 TV reports, and 34 press releases. The symposium has been documented in a report that summarizes the presentations given there and the press reactions to the symposium and project.
