Northern Connections visiting the European Week of Regions and Cities
The European Week of Regions and Cities is an annual event in Brussels giving cities and regions a forum to showcase their capacity to create growth and jobs, implement European Union cohesion policy, and prove the importance of the local and regional level for good European governance.
In 2019 Northern Connection (represented by HCU) was present at the Week of Regions and Cities by participating in several workshops like “The importance of networks in regional economic smart specialization policies” and “Maximising the Contribution of Universities to Regional Innovation – Lessons and Toolkits for Policymaking”.
These workshops gave interesting input for the work of Northern Connections especially concerning the development of regional innovation and specialization and cooperation. Furthermore, the workshops and also the networking events during the week offered the chance to spread information about Northern Connections and exchange with other cities, regions, and projects from other EU funded programs (INTERREG, HORIZON2020) working on similar topics. Especially for the work of WP3 Knowledge, the European Week of Regions and Cities gave useful input for the further work in Northern Connections. As the week is a good platform to present project outcomes, it might also be considered to present Northern Connections with a workshop session or an exhibition stand during the 2020 edition of the European Week.
