The importance of Data Protection - a lecture in Vechta (DE)
Prof. Dr. Jonida-Weishaar is assistant professor at Groningen University (NL). She completed her legal education at the University of Padua (Italy) in 2004 (Dottore in Giurisprudenza) with a thesis in Comparative Criminal Law. In 2005 she obtained an advanced LL.M. degree in European, International and Comparative Law at Maastricht University (NL). She defended her PhD thesis in 2017 with a focus on law enforcement use of everyday technology for surveillance purposes and challenges for human rights. She is a trained lawyer (Avokat) and has previously worked as legal adviser at the Parliament of the Republic of Albania and as lecturer of European law at the University of Maastricht (NL) and the University of Hasselt (BE). Jonida joined Groningen University in 2012 and is a member of the Security, Technology and e-Privacy (STeP) research group. In her research she focuses on the challenges that technology creates for the protection of fundamental rights of individuals.
