Provinsje Fryslan (NL) The province of milk and water

The province of Fryslân is a province in the north of the Netherlands. Fryslân had 660,560 inhabitants in 2018. The capital is Leeuwarden. In 2018 Leeuwarden/Fryslân was Cultural Capital. In addition to Dutch, Frisian has the status of administrative language in the province.

Which are the organisation’s thematic competences and experiences relevant for the project?

Province of Fryslân is a provincial government with tasks and responsibilities to promote the prosperity and wellbeing of its inhabitants and responsibility for the implementation of certain laws and measures issued by the national government. The goal of the province is to increase cost-efficiency for start-ups and stimulate the uptake of market-proof products. The province has extensive experience in Interreg projects.

 

What is the benefit for the organisation from participating in the project?

Fryslân is a regional authority responsible for a vibrant entrepreneurial climate. Fryslan wil benefit from this project as the means and money invested in start-up and innovation programmes will be spend more effective. In addition the province and its regional partners like incubators, municipalities, thematic clusters and knowledge institutions will be able to launch a more effective start up program based on the Innofest method.
