As "the university by the sea" University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven has a maritime profile which can be traced back to an education tradition with over one hundred years' history. The maritime character is reflected especially in the close cooperation with the industry in the field of teaching and research. Currently, there are about 3.200 students from 66 nations studying in 15 Bachelor- and eight Master courses.
University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven is well positioned in wind energy technology including the Institute of Wind Energy (fk-wind) with industry and other research partners, Bachelor programmes such as “Sustainable energy technology and environmental technology” and “Maritime technology” with an option to specialise in wind energy technology and a full-time Master course lasting four terms in “Wind energy technology". It covers further competences in Business Administration, e.g. Human Resources Management and Logistics.
The university cooperates closely with the business in research, internships and degree theses. In the project Inn2POWER the University of Applied Sciences Bremerhaven mainly focuses on two aspects: the recruitment and retention of staff in small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in the offshore wind energy sector and in the qualification of staff by offering modules of a wind energy business oriented MBA-course.
