HyTrEc2 contributing to new Hydrogen for Transport Course
HyTrEc2 has been working with Energy Skills Scotland (ESP) to develop a new Hydrogen for Transport Course. This online course is easily accessible and aimed at those intending on joining a hydrogen transport industry. It is suitable for school and college students, or those who want to know a little bit more about hydrogen uses in transport. And covers key areas such as:
- Hydrogen Refuelling Stations
- Road Transport
- Marine Transport
- Rail Transport
- Air Transport
Hydrogen offers a promising alternative to internal combustion engines, especially heavy duty-vehicles such as buses, heavy goods vehicles, trains and ships. HyTrEc2 has deployed a number of hydrogen refuelling stations across the North Sea Region as well as integrating various hydrogen transport vehicles including cars, vans, waste trucks and road sweepers onto Partner fleets. The partnership is now investigating opportunities for hydrogen in port side, maritime, rail and HGV applications.
Over 180 people have already taken the course since its launch - indicating the level of interest in learning more about hydrogen. ESP also offers a Hydrogen Awareness Course that introduces hydrogen basics to those interested in a career in hydrogen. ESP is a member’s forum made up of Scotland’s colleges, which was established in 2011 with a remit to enhance skills to meet the energy industry’s needs and to support the diverse range of skills interventions required.
