Groningen Produces Green Hydrogen

24 June 2019 - Published by Louise Napier
Enterprise Holthausen developed a temporary portable hydrogen filling station in cooperation with the municipality of Groningen.

The portable hydrogen filling station is necessary for developing the hydrogen supply chain in remote areas without an existing hydrogen filling station and has been available since August 2017.

The filling station is connected to the solar cell park next to it producing green hydrogen with no emissions.  At the end of October, the tests of the first hydrogen vehicles (2 cars, 1 van) began. In March 2018 the municipality of Groningen expects to start testing the other vehicles (2 trucks, 1 van).

The use and practicality of the hydrogen temporary filling station is being demonstrated in the north sea region as an example of how to develop a hydrogen chain in remote areas.
