Drenthe's newly branded Hydrogen Ground Power Unit seen for the first time!
Under the HyTrEc2 project, Provincie Drenthe has been working tirelessly over the past 18 months on changing a diesel Ground Power Unit so that it uses hydrogen instead.
Ground Power Units are usually found at airports and service the aircraft between flights helping with ground power operations, aircraft mobility, and cargo/passenger loading operations.
The project has an impressive array of Partners working with HyTrEc2 and Drenthe, including: Groningen Eelde Airport, KLM Equipment Services, Hydrogen Valley Airport, NXT Airport, New Energy Coalition and Rijks University Groningen. This GPU was donated by KLM Services and with funding and support from HyTrEc2 has been retrofitted to hydrogen by Holthausen and will be used at Eelde Airport with the University analysing the data produced.
