Hydrogen Fuel Cell Waste Truck takes to the streets of Groningen
This truck is the first of two HyTrEc2 trucks set to launch in Groningen and will be used for waste collection in The City Centre.
The new vehicle is a Rear-End loader Refuge Collection Vehicle (RCV) with lifting device. Groningen is also set to receive a fixed Side loader RCV to collect small bins. Each of these HyTrEc2 large vehicles is powered by a 30kW Fuel Cell, meaning that the vehicle runs exclusively off green Hydrogen ensuring that cleaning the streets does not dirty the air! The deployment of zero-emission hydrogen refuse trucks will contribute towards Groningen's ambitious emissions targets: The City aims to be energy neutral by 2035.
{Another impressive feature of this Fuel Cell Waste-Truck is that it happens to have the 1000th safety step delivered by the company Gemco- another company HyTrEc2 has introduced into the hydrogen supply chain}
The experience in HyTrEc2: the partnership and the shared information, has been a great help for Groningen and has encouraged the City to deploying more hydrogen vehicles outwit the project. The City now boasts 14 hydrogen powered vehicles with many more on the way: the North Sea Region really will be the hydrogen economy!
