Green transport and mobility
Transport is a special theme because the North Sea Region is the international trade hub for most of Europe thanks to its deep-water ports. This sector makes a major contribution to the region’s economy, but also its environmental impact through its reliance on fossil fuels.
Our projects are developing innovations to reduce emissions, improve air quality and relieve congestion which threatens the efficient flow of goods and people around the region and beyond.
The focus is to shift large volumes of freight away from long-distance road haulage and to improve the performance of the shipping industry with zero carbon fuels, green technologies and the development of more efficient passenger and freight transport hubs.
