Opportunities for Green Travel in the Speyside area of Scotland

29 November 2019 - Published by Lyndsay Bloice

Several low carbon initiatives are now running in the Speyside area of North Scotland, which has seen significant investment in Green Transport in 2018/2019, including the previously reported electric bus which was funded as part of the G-PaTRA project (see here for the original G-PaTRA news story and here and here for more on the project from the local press).

The ERDF Low Carbon Travel and Transport Challenge fund has enabled the introduction of two more electric vehicles in May 2019 and two electric bikes at the Moray CarShare Club in early November 2019. Two new rapid chargers were also installed in Aberlour.

Additionally, there was a major upgrade of the Speyside Way path to make it more suitable for cyclists. This was completed in September 2019. The low carbon hub along the route which features car charging will have a launch event on the 30th November 2019.
