HHSK - Regional Water Authority Schieland and the Krimpenerweaard

Schieland en de Krimpenerwaard is a regional water authority in The Netherlands. A regional water authority is a decentralised public body that can be compared to provinces and local municipalities.

It is an independent organisation with defined legal responsibilities and a self-supporting financial system. Its mission is to ensure dry feet and clean surface water in its catchment area which stretches from Rotterdam, Gouda to Zoetermeer. Within that area, Schieland en de Krimpenerwaard is responsible for water quantity (correct surface water levels), the quality of the surface water and the treatment of urban wastewater, and flood control (maintenance of the dikes).

This is what we want to do in the FAIR Project:

Adaptability and life cycle costing (LCC) are approaches that are part of project KIJK, since these approaches are standard in Dutch flood asset infrastructure. KIJK is working in close collaboration with the Dutch partners Rijkswaterstaat and Deltares, and the Hoogwaterbeschermingsprogramma (the Dutch flood protection programme).
