What is the programme about?
The North Sea Region programme supports transnational partnerships which bring together 49 regions from different countries around the North Sea to address some of the most important challenges facing the area. The programme builds on the belief that by sharing the different expertise, ideas, experience and resources available in each country, it will be possible to improve on existing solutions. The programme is about learning by doing: Testing new ideas and strategies in a variety of contexts to see what really works and then sharing these insights with other regions and organisations.
The programme is based around four thematic priorities. Under each priority there are two or three specific objectives. The main themes are innovation and the knowledge economy, green technologies, climate change and other environmental challenges, and transport. There is a wealth of information available on all of these themes in the Citizen Summary.
