CC Focus: Connect | Event: Hamburg, Germany June 2017
Create Converge VR Storytelling – the big questions
Head to Hamburg for our free CC event and networking lunch with Johan Knattrup Jensen.
20 June 2017 10.30-13.00
Johan will be leading a session on what storytelling in virtual reality can be like. He is an award-winning writer, director and experience deliverer at Danish digital experience company Makropol.
Working across film, theatre, photography and art he’s a master of mixing up different formats, but always with focus on the psychological and emotional impact of a story.
Johan is a producer at Makropol working with founder Mads Damsbo. Johan studied at independent film school Super16 and his work has been selected for festivals and events all over the world including the New York Film Festival, Geneva International Film Festival, Festival Du Nouveau Cinema and all major Danish festivals.
Johan says ”The promise of VR is unfolding all around the world. Global players are emerging with accessible consumer friendly tech that allow millions of people to experience VR but the question remains; What will we be experiencing, in these virtual realities?”
You can see some of Johan’s work at his Vimeo channel.
The big VR questions
Is virtual reality the end of the author’s impact? How do the author’s narration and the free choice of the user to navigate mesh together? What tools are there to tell stories in VR? How does the narrative for VR differ from the script writing of a traditional fiction film? What stories and genres are suitable for which narrative?
