#CyberSecMonth - COM³ Helps Make Internet Safer

14 October 2022 - Published by P. Khodabakhsh
The European Cybersecurity Month runs throughout October with tips and tricks on practic-ing cyber hygiene and identifying cyber threats. COM³ partners are participating to these efforts via their training solution on Cybersecurity Readiness.

Since 2012, every October has been dedicated to raising awareness about the risks we may encounter in different corners of the online world. The European Commission, the European Union Agency for Network and Information Security (ENISA) and over 300 partners, including public authorities, universities, think tanks, NGOs and professional associations from across Europe unite against cyber threats under the slogan ‘Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility’.

Besides this awareness raising, proactive measures to identify threats early using detection-based tools are important. To strengthen your skills in this area, COM³ partners at Aalborg University have developed a e-learning course on Cybersecurity Readiness through Honeypots

This course provides an introduction of Cybersecurity and Defensive Security systems like Honeypots that can be used for proactive attack detection. Furthermore, the course provides a good overview of Honeypots by explaining how they work and the Threat Intelligence gathered.

Besides that, COM³ partners are currently developing other training solutions. The following also address cybersecurity:

  • Data Breach and Privacy Leak Awareness
  • Threat Identification & Self Assessment for SMEs

These and other training modules can be found on the learning platform ruraldigital.eu, developed by the two Interreg North Sea Region projects COM³ and CORA. With this platform, both projects address the most pressing challenges to overcome the digital divide in rural areas and offer training solutions that enable everyone – citizens, small businesses, and administrations – to acquire the necessary digital skills. The goal of the project is to help them identify the common challenges and empower them so that they can make the best of the digital transformation.
