About the C5a project

The North Sea Region is facing a significant increase in the frequency and severity of floods due to climate change. Flood management approaches need to urgently adapt to this new reality to keep people safe, the environment healthy and our economies prosperous.

The C5a project (Cluster for Cloud to Coast Climate Change Adaptation) has ten partners from six countries and has been running between 2019 and 2022. The aim is to enable greater integration and innovation in the adaptation to the physical, economic and social impact of flooding, taking into account climate change. To help achieve this, the C5a team developed the Cloud 2 Coast approach that promotes the adoption of a whole-system and long-term perspective to climate change adaptation. The Cloud 2 Coast is purposeful, collaborative and builds on the principles of social justice, ecosystem health and resilience. The conference will showcase seven case studies from six countries (Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden and United Kingdom) and how they have approach the challenge of adaptation and the lessons learnt for both policy and practice.
