The conference 'Climate change adaptation in the North Sea region', which took place in Schoorl, the Netherlands on March 8th, was a great success.

The occasion for the conference was that the EU Interreg VB North Sea region projects Building with Nature and FAIR, both reached their halfway points. The conference reflected on results achieved, and looked ahead to the future of the projects.

Part of the morning program was the launch of a learning platform for FAIR, that enables sharing knowledge online about adaptive asset management. Dr. Todd Bridges of the US Army Corps of Engineers gave a keynote speech about ways of flood protection in the United States.

In the afternoon, knowledge was shared in various sessions about flood protection in the North Sea region and beyond. Excursions to the Petten Sea Defence gave guests the opportunity to view with their own eyes examples of nature-based solutions and adaptive asset management.
