Nourishment ensures coastal protection of Langeoog (DE)
27 December 2018 - Published by Eric Boessenkool
Nourishments are an efficient and working method for ensuring coastal protection on the island of Langeoog. The performance of the nourishment is established and approved for this area. This is the outcome of the national analysis of Lower Saxony Water Management, Coastal Defence and Nature Conservation Agency in Germany.
The design of the nourishment is different though for each construction, because the morphological circumstances are changing. That is why new improvements in nourishment technology and design can still be elaborated in the future. Experiences from other coastal laboratories can provide input for this.
Joint co-analysis
This analysis report is one of 7 national reports presenting the results from each individual living laboratory in the Building with Nature project. The results will be compiled into a joint co-analysis providing for comparing nourishment performance and generating a better understanding of the factors that determine nourishment evolution.
