The future of city logistics

Venue: Online

The event will be held in German language. German version of the description here

The project consortium SmartHelm will host an online event on Monday, 12th of July, 2021 at 6.30 p.m.

SmartHelm, the smart house (Schlaues Haus) and the city of Oldenburg are organizing an interactive virtual discussion event entitled “Cargo bike logistics 2.0 - SmartHelm project”.

Increasing pollution and noise levels as well as inner-city traffic jams make it necessary to enhance urban cycling logistics.

The increasing parcel volume of e-commerce is a challenge for bicycle couriers – the riders need new forms of support to make a good and a satisfying job.

What role can a smart bicycle helmet play in this? And what contribution can a new helmet to improve the working conditions of courier riders?

Take part in our online event and the relating online discussion to find that out.

Various experts from the project will present their specific contents around the challenges and opportunities of Oldenburg city logistics, such as a smarter bicycle helmet can contribute to the solution.

This event offers an insight into practice-oriented research and development for interested citizens. Get involved and join the discussion!

We look forward to an interesting program with contributions from:

  • Prof. Dr.-Ing. Tanja Schultz Cognitive Systems Lab, University of Bremen,
  • Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Jorge Marx Gómez, Department of Business Informatics VLBA, Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg,
  • Dr. Kristian Schopka, RYTLE,
  • Sebastian Pust, Citipost Nordwest,
  • Dr. Stefan Baumgart, TeamViewer,
  • Urban Plangger, Uvex.

The event will be conducted online. Interested people can register until 3:30 p.m. at the 12th of July under the following link: https://services.oldenburg.de/index.php?id=421

All interested people are invited to participate in the event, to be part of the discussion and to ask questions. No special software is required.

After registration, the further steps for participation will be explained.

As a preparation to the event, we organized a small survey in cooperation with the IHJO (Innovative University) Citizen Science Laboratory.
