Urban Waterway Logistics
Which are the organisation's thematic competences and experiences relevant for the project?
Urban Waterway Logistics is a consortium of private companies in Flanders in the field of urban inland waterways transport. Common
goal is to get goods in and out of the city by also using inland waterways (given traffic congestion, introduction of Low Emission Zones,
circulation plans,...). Activites of the consortium consist of the creation of a logistics platform, a distribution center and hubs.
What is the benefit for the organisation from participating in the project?
The consortium is on the one hand a group of entrepreneurs who are willing to investigate and invest in sustainable, green logistic
solutions and on the other hand a research group in the field of autonomous sailing and inland waterways transport solutions.
Participating in AVATAR leads to increasing the expertise in autonomous sailing and green transport.
What is the main role in the project?
UWL delivers experience in autonomous sailing. UWL is part of the thinktank concerning the setup of developping and
testing. UWL delivers experience and knowhow in working with the urban boats, as developped under IWTS2.0 project and AVATAR.
Realise real life testing in the steering of ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore with the AVATAR vessel and the Green Wave boat. Skippers
