AVATAR - F2F meeting with E. Van Wingen

01 April 2022 - Published by Tom Pauwels
Project coordinator Tom Pauwels (POM Oost-Vlaanderen) visited on 21/3/2022 Jean-Pierre Van Wingen (E. VAN WINGEN NV) to discuss the current status of the AVATAR Interreg North Sea Region project.

One of the topics that has been discussed with Jean-Pierre Van Wingen (E. Van Wingen) is the development and timing of the new AVATAR vessel with the necessary equipment, starting from the available hull (see picture).

The ambition is to finalize this new highly automated vessel (25 ton load) before the summer 2022. Looking forward to be able to carry out tests in Ghent with project partner Peter Geirnaert (OHB and UWL) and the other involved project partners!

The AVATAR project aims to tackle challenges of city freight distribution by developing, testing and assessing adequate technologies and business models for urban, highly autonomous zero-emission inland waterway transport.
