MAP: Sustainability targets

From Copenhagen's determination to be the first carbon-neutral capital in the world by 2025 to Barcelona producing the best climate plan among major European cities, according to the Covenant of Mayors, there are initiatives to tackle climate change springing up across Europe.

That same ambition that drives so many cities to set targets and develop new models has also led to a range of technologies and systems too broad for any single city or organisation to test. The resources required, not just in terms of money but also expertise and freedom to experiment, are too prohibitive for local authorities to fully assess all available options. That's where the ACCESS project comes in. The project connects actors, organisations, and cities together to find sustainable alternatives to the current energy system that could then be replicated across Europe.

Here's a map of just a handful of those existing ambitions and commitments to give you an idea.
