Mechelen is a city and municipality in the province of Antwerp, Flanders, Belgium. The city has project-relevant experience in managing parking buildings and charging stations. Recently, a first feasibility study 'Flux 50 Micro Grid Services for Local Communities' was carried out for the Eandis site, which is part of our project pilot site Keerdok/Eandis. This study investigated the feasibility of a local energy community and shows great potential for the upscaling in the ACCESS project. | West Suffolk Council has delivered many energy projects over the last two decades. In doing so, the council has built up strong partnerships with organisations both locally and across the UK, as well as honed leadership and innovation skills. The council's vision is that residents and businesses have access to clean and affordable energy. West Suffolk Council is ambitious and wishes to learn from others across the EU to help achieve this vision. | ||

The city of Malmö has been intensively involved with energy transition-related projects: In the Hyllie district, there has been an extensive focus on the development of smart networks (power and district heating networks) that can supply electricity and district heating and take advantage of the customers' own small-scale production into the network. The Smart Cities Accelerator-Interreg project focuses on virtual energy storage- to create a standardized workflow about how power flows can be mapped in a city. |
The city of Amersfoort, with 155,000 inhabitants and growing, is located in the centre of the Netherlands. Our ambition is to become a CO2-neutral city while keeping energy affordable for our citizens. Currently, we are facing challenges in the energy transition of the local electricity grid, i.e. inclusion of more locally produced sustainable energy, and a higher electricity demand as all-electric solutions are replacing natural gas as a heat source. We see a lot of potential in new developments like digitalisation. We are participating in the ACCESS project with a pilot using a Smart Grid, local energy storage and Peer-to-Peer (P2P) electricity trading. We would like to learn if P2P trading could help in keeping the energy transition affordable and the electricity grid future proof. |
