Priority 3: Sustainable North Sea Region
For the North Sea Region, the effects of climate change – more damaging storms, floods and drought - are becoming a fact of life.
With so many low-lying areas, a rise in sea level, for example, could cripple the region’s economy and put lives at risk. Our projects bolster flood defenses, develop nature-based approaches to climate adaptation, and innovate to handle extreme weather events more effectively.
Also, we take a long-term perspective to preserving the natural environment. Our projects help protect wildlife and fight pollution in the North Sea and our waterways.
Coordinated action across borders is a very efficient way to deal with climate change and to preserve the natural world.
Thematic objective
Promoting climate change adaptation, risk prevention and management.
Preserving and protecting the environment and promoting resource efficiency.
Specific objectives
- Demonstrate new and/or improved methods for improving the climate resilience of target sites.
- Develop new methods for the long-term sustainable management of North Sea ecosystems.
