Events to be aware of in 2022
It is none too early to plan your participation in this year’s European events and campaigns. Here is an overview to help you make the most of the chances to showcase your project on the European scene.
Here is a short list of top events from a North Sea perspective. Most of them offer several ways to engage. Even if you do not wish to participate directly, you can still use the occasion to highlight project successes and milestones linked to the events' main topic.
All year: European Year of Youth
This year marks the European Year of Youth. If your project engages with young people, check out the options to engage and see all the events that put a spotlight on youth this year.
May: Maritime Day and the North Sea Conference
This European Maritime Day takes place 19-20 May in Ravenna, Italy. If you are into maritime and marine affairs, do not miss this key European event.
This year’s North Sea Conference will take place 23-25 May in Bruges, Flanders. At this event, you can learn about projects’ results, get perspectives on the future of the North Sea Region, and get ready to apply for funding. Make sure to save the dates! Registration will open soon.
June: EU Green Week
On 30 May - 5 June, the EU Green Week will take place in hybrid format and through local events across Europe. If your project concerns the environment or biodiversity, consider organising a local event around this time.
September: Sustainable energy, cooperation and mobility
On 21 September, cooperation across borders is in focus at the European Cooperation Day. Wy not use this event to showcase how cooperation in your project makes the world a better place?
If your project is all about transport or mobility, do not miss the European Mobility Week 16 – 22 September.
The EU Sustainable Energy Week takes place 26-30 September. The hybrid event offers many options to engage. In addition, you may want to apply for the Sustainable Energy Awards.
October: European Wek of Regions and Cities
The #EURegionsWeek is the top European event for regional development, with over 18,000 participants in 2021. This year’s themes are: 1.Green transition. 2. Territorial cohesion. 3. Digital transition 4. Youth empowerment.
As always, there is plenty of opportunity to get involved. The format will be hybrid, with partner events being digital. You can host virtual workshops, information sessions, participatory labs, exhibitions, and pitches. To host an event, you need at least one partner. The deadline for applying is 31 March.
November: Climate COP27
The Climate COP27 takes place 7-18 November in Egypt. If your project tackles climate change, we recommend you to use this opportunity to highlight how it helps solve the top planetary crisis.
