#ECDay: Kids cooperate on filmmaking
Today is European Cooperation Day! But what does cooperation, friendship and community mean to school kids?
In Denmark, Interreg has joined forces with the Animation Workshop / Via University Colleage in Viborg to involve students in celebrating cooperation. With support from the Animation Workshop, over 100 Danish school kids have turned into filmmakers. The students have learned to make simple stop-motion videos, from idea stage through production. They have produced everything themselves, including drawings for the videos.
Only one rule applied: The topic of the videos had to be "cooperation" and what the word means to the kids. Groups of pupils have worked together around each video, so the videos are themselves results of cooperation!
Festive screening
The film project is part of Animation Workshop's programme for children, ANIMOK, and the annual Viborg Animation Festival. On 28 September, films will be screened at the public library in Viborg where the North Sea Region Programme is based. Of course, we will be there to watch the films and celebrate the kids' work.
Here is a sneak peek at one of the first videos produced. The creators are two boys, Anton and Alexander, from third grade at the Free School in Viborg. See their take on how two small friends cooperate and overcome big obstacles, literally speaking:
At the Joint Secretariat, we are proud to be part of this initiative involving the next generation. A big thank you to Interact for making this happen. We are looking forward to watching!
