7 European events and campaigns to be aware of in 2021
It is time to plan your presence at this year’s European events and campaigns.
Showcase your project on the European scene! Despite the Covid-19 restrictions, there are plenty of opportunities this year. Here is a rundown of key events and campaigns in 2021.
1. Year of Rail & new EU mobility strategy
If your project is about transport, take stock of the new European mobility strategy. Also, the EU topic of the year is ”rail”. Greening of transport and multimodal solutions are central themes in 2021.
2. European Maritime Day
The Maritime Day takes place in hybrid format on 20-21 May, while partners can set up local events between 1 April and 30 September. To host partner events, register by 28 February.
3. EU Green Week
If your project is working to mitigate or prevent pollution, make sure to join the EU Green Week 2021 because this year, it is all about zero pollution. The event involves a virtual conference 1-4 June, and you can host a local partner event between 31 May and 4 June. You need to register your event by 12 March. If you wish to host a stand at the virtual exhibition, the deadline is 8 March.
4. European Week of Regions and Cities
This top annual event for regional development will take place during 11-14 October. The event will be at least partly virtual. In 2020, a record 12,000 participants joined from all across Europe.
Under the slogan ”recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic”, four main topics will be in focus: 1) Green transition, 2) Cohesion, 3) Digital transition, and 4) Citizen engagement.
If you wish to partner with the event by hosting an online event under one of these themes, make sure to apply by 26 March.
5. RegioStars Awards
You can now apply for the top prize in European cooperation, the RegioStars Awards! This is definitely worthwhile considering if your project has produced impressive results and impacts. The first deadline to be aware of for North Sea Region projects is 6 April.
6. Interreg podcast
The first-ever Interreg podcast "This is Europe" was launched last year, featuring North Sea Region projects INDU-ZERO and PARTRIDGE! Each episode has over 5,000 downloads and growing.
This year, Interact will produce new episodes. They are looking for stories matching the following headlines: 1) Towards sustainable food systems 2) Re-invigorating the fight against inequality 3) Culture in crisis? 4) A digital boost for the circular economy 5) Green mobility.
Want to be a podcast star? Please fill in the short application form and send it to the Joint Secretariat at firstname.lastname@example.org by 5 March.
